Jumpstart Your Medical SLP Career!

The Humbert Swallowing Training Program presents a new way to step ahead of your traditional SLP graduate training with the only hands-on, immersive Modified Barium Swallowing (MBS) course. More than half of practicing SLPs in the United States report feeling neither prepared nor confident in providing dysphagia services post-graduation. The MBS Intensive Jumpstart Program offers experiential learning designed to prepare SLPs for real-world, clinical environments with firsthand experience in swallowing diagnostics (Clinical Swallowing Evaluations and Modified Barium Swallow Studies).

Jumpstart is a 5-day hybrid MBS Intensive course that is offered both in-person (three days: March 14-16) and virtually (two days: March 22-23). The in-person training will take place at The Swallowing Wellness Center - 4641 Montgomery Ave, Suite 300, Bethesda, MD 20814.

What differentiates this program from any other:

  • More than 50% of the course includes hands-on experiential learning through case-specific simulations with volunteer/standardized patients (individuals trained to replicate a clinical encounter or typical patient experience)

  • One-on-one feedback to customize your learning needs

  • Enhances clinical decision-making in real-time

  • Exposure to most common clinical cases in real-world settings

  • Personalized training with Dr. Humbert in the fluoroscopy suite

  • Learn to write a great report!

  • Small, personal group of 10 learners

What this course is not:

  • A textbook

  • All virtual

  • All theoretical

  • Intimidating

  • A waste of your time and money
